Jag har i tidigare inlägg nämnt att det värsta vi kan göra är att inte prata. Att inte ta debatten. Att låta bli att diskutera. Att stänga av och utestänga.

Allt för många politiska röster pratar om att man inte ska ta diskussion, att man inte behöver diskutera, att det är onödigt. Jag som har historia som ett stort intresse har många gånger oroats över hur vi människor aldrig lär sig, att historien upprepar sig. Men bland det viktigaste man måste lära sig när man studerar är källkritik. Att man inte ska lita blint på vad någon annan människa säger, annars är man dömd att bli lurad.

Många förstår inte hur snabbt ett budskap som förs från mun till mun faktiskt förvrids och förändras. Det finns ett gyllene sätt att testa detta på, "skicka vidare". Ta 10 kompisar och sätt er i en cirkel. Viska en enkel mening i den första personens öra och be denne skicka vidare. Du kommer att bli förvånad över hur totalt förändrad din mening kommer att ha hunnit bli när den viskas i ditt öra efter att ha gått hela varvet runt. Du kan sedan utöka detta till mer realistisk praxis och berätta en historia till 1 kompis och be hen skicka vidare, och sedan följa hur den förändras från varje person som hör den och för den vidare.

Detta är en praxis som de högerextrema tyvärr börjat ta till. Det startas mängder av falska historier på Facebook som sprids med viral hastighet och spyr ur sig högerextrem propagandra. Folk kollar inte källor, utan skickar vidare vad de har hört men med sin egen personliga touch på det. Tidigare kallades sådant här för skvaller, och inte information.

För att moterbeta detta måste vi sluta att isolera och att istället ge oss in i diskussioner. Låt orden flyta fritt så att inga visk-kedjor bildas. Det finns inget som sprider sig snabbare än rykten, och vi vet hur sanna rykten brukar vara. Spela med öppna kort. Låt alla få komma till tals. Bekämpa ignorans och instängdhet med diskussion och öppenhet.
